Shabab Alahli clinch their 10th title in the President’s cup, after defeating Al Nasr 2-1 in the final at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.
Shabab Alahli players received gold medals, in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the UAE Football Association, Ibrahim Abdul Malik, Vice President of Shabab Alahli Football Company, Mohammad Abdullah Hazam Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Football Association, and Ahmed Bin Darwish, Member of the Board of directors in UAEFA, head of the competitions committee.
Federico Cartabia opened the score for Shabab Alahli from a penalty spot, and Mehdi Obeid equalized for Al Nasr in the second half, in the injury time Cartabia scored again from penalty spot to give his side the winning.
Speaking at the post match press conference, Mahdi Ali, Shabab Alahli head coach started by sending his gratitude to to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He added: “Congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Shabab Alahli Club, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Football Company of Shabab Alahli.”
He added: “we thank God for the third achievement in this exceptional season, and these achievements came as a result of tireless teamwork and the solidarity of all members of the club, my congratulations to His Excellency Khalifa Suleiman, and all members of the board of directors”.
Mahdi pointed out that he will discuss the needs of the team for the next season with the technical committee and see how to prepare the team for the local and continental competitions.
