Shabab Alahli shared spoils with Al-Gharrafa after two team drew 1-1 in the matchweek 3 of AFC Champions League, at Prince Abdallah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.
Al-Gharafa took the lead in the last minutes of the first half, while Cartabia equalized the score for Shabab Alahli in the last minute of the second half. the result saw Shabab Alahli with three points in third place in the group, which Al-Gharafa topped the teable with five points.
Shabab Alahli starting lineup included: Hassan Hamza, Walid Abbas, Salmin Khamis, Youssef Jaber, Abdel Aziz Haikal, Majed Hassan, Ahmed Nour Allah, Omar Abdelurahman, Harib Abdallah, Cartabia and Thomas Olsen.
In the second half, Majid Hassan, Salmin Khamis, Omar Abdulrahman, Ahmed Nour Allah, Abdel Aziz Haikal, were replaced by Eid Khamis, Mohammad Jaber, Ahmed Jamil, Gustavo, and Yahya Al Ghassani.
Mahdi Ali, coach of Shabab Alahli, explained in the post-match press conference, that the match was difficult in the first half, and his players missed several chances.
Mahdi stated that he made substitutions in the second half to rest some players, as Omar Abdulrahman, He said: “We scored in the last minutes and got a draw. We were hoping to win, but that’s football.”
He added: “we missed lot of chances due to a lack of concertation. Fasting affects both teams. I hope that we will score in the next matches from the chances we get”.
